Odoo Community vs Enterprise: differences, pricing and who it's for?

Odoo comes in two editions: Community, free and open source, and Enterprise, under a paid license. Choosing between Odoo Community and Enterprise shapes your features, your budget and your roadmap. This factual comparison helps you decide, with the perspective of an Odoo integrator in Morocco.

What is Odoo Community?

Odoo Community is the open-source edition (LGPLv3 license), free of charge: you download the code, host it freely and use it without any fees. It covers the fundamental building blocks: sales, purchasing, invoicing, inventory, project, point of sale, CRM, website.

  • Free license, open and modifiable code.
  • Core applications covering common processes.
  • Free hosting (internal server, cloud, VPS).
  • No publisher support included, no advanced mobile app.

What is Odoo Enterprise?

Odoo Enterprise is the commercial edition, billed per user per month. It includes all of Community and adds complete applications, advanced features, the mobile app, publisher support and guaranteed updates. It is the only edition available on Odoo Online and Odoo.sh. The majority of structured projects in Morocco are deployed on Enterprise.

The Enterprise licensing model

Enterprise is billed by the number of internal users, at a rate per user per month, on quotation depending on your country, the number of users and the applications. The price includes access to all standard applications: you pay per user, not per module. Portal users are generally not billed as internal users.

We do not publish a price here: the rate depends on your actual configuration. Request a tailored quote.

Who is it for? Our recommendation

Community suits very small organizations, pilot projects and self-sufficient technical teams, for simple needs without publisher support.

Enterprise becomes essential as soon as you need full accounting, the mobile app, Studio, advanced manufacturing features, or the security of guaranteed support. It is the default choice for a structured SME. See Odoo ERP solutions.

What Karizma brings

As an Odoo publisher and integrator in Morocco, Karizma helps you decide based on your real processes, then manages the integration. With Karizma One, we add our business modules and continuous support. Our role: to avoid both over- and under-sizing.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, without losing your data: the switch activates the additional modules. You need to check the compatibility of third-party modules and plan for support.

The license is free and open source. However, hosting, integration, development and maintenance represent a real cost to budget for.

For an SME that needs full accounting, the mobile app and guaranteed support, Enterprise is generally recommended. Community remains relevant for a simple need or a pilot.
